Aston Martin has announced at Geneva that it will equip all of its Valkyrie hypercars with MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 ultra-high performance tyres in 265/35 ZR20 front and 325/30 ZR21 rear sizes.
Blurring the line between motorsport and road tyres, the MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 is the latest generation of road-legal track tyres specially designed for ultra-high performance cars that are used on road and track.
The relationship between BMW and Michelin has spanned generations and some of the greatest road cars ever built.
BMW has chosen Michelin as the exclusive tyre provider on its new M3 and M4, keeping alive a continuous string of Michelin fitments on the M3 since its introduction nearly 30 years ago.
Like on the Veyron, the Bugatti Chiron's tyres have been co-developed with Michelin. Incredible amounts of pressure is placed on the Michelin rubber as they have to withstand 3,688 lb-ft of torque per wheel and every gram of rubber is exposed to centrifugal force of 3,800 times the force of gravity.
Michelin has been selected as the exclusive worldwide supplier of tyres for the new Ferrari 458 Speciale. The simultaneous co-development of the tyre and car, using both simulated and track tests, led to very high levels of performance in three specific areas that were identified prior to the start of the project: faster dry lap times, consistent performance lap after lap and optimal grip on wet roads. In short, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyre is an integral part of the new Ferrari 458 Speciale and a key component in giving it its exceptional performance.
Recognising the fact that tyres are a critical aspect of performance vehicles, Michelin and Ford engineers have entered a collaboration partnership from vehicle inception to develop customised tyres that meet a wide range of performance targets such as: lateral grip, noise, vibration and durability.
Koenigsegg has been working with Michelin since the beginning of their journey. We’ve developed our technologies together. We’ve set records together. The relationship thrives because we both share the same commitment to excellence.
“Michelin has been the sole tyre supplier to Koenigsegg right from our first production car in 2002. We have tested many different tyre brands since then but none have ever come close to the quality and performance that Michelin offers. Michelin’s ability to support our low volume production and bespoke tire development needs is truly unique. It lets us design and build cars that consistently exceed our customers’ expectations.” – Christian von Koenigsegg
Delivering superior performance is engrained in the genetic code of the AMG brand. It’s also the mission assigned to the new MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which will equip all new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Black Series cars.
Michelin and Porsche have been collaborating on vehicle design since 1961. Together the two companies have created astonishing sports cars, won multiple races and set world records along the way.
Today, Porsche uses Michelin exclusively for some of it's most iconic models such as the 918 Spyder, Cayenne, Panamera and 911 GT3 just to name a few.
